ROC's Nagel to moonlight as 'Flying Dutchman'

While in California for a short break from his duties as general director of Rimrock Opera in Billings, Douglas Nagel was asked at the last minute to join the cast in the title role of West Bay Opera's production of Wagner's "The Flying Dutchman."

Bass-baritone Nagel, who recently sang with the Billings Symphony Orchestra & Chorale, has had an international opera career. He has sung numerous roles at WBO as well as directing the company's most recent "Cosi fan tutte" production.

Story:
Letter: Thanks for supporting opera in Billings

Rimrock Opera sincerely appreciates supporters and business partners that made our 2007-08 season a grand success. RO is fortunate to have a dedicated board of directors and general director, Douglas Nagel. All of us share a passion for opera and are dedicated to bringing world-class opera to area audiences. We pledge to keep our ticket prices reasonable and hope more will join as first-time opera goers in 2008-2009. One doesn't have to travel to New York or San Francisco to enjoy world-class opera. Billings' audience members can enjoy an evening with family and friends at a reasonably priced and convenient venue.

We are cognizant of Billings' businesses which recognize the importance the arts for recruiting purposes and employees' quality of life. Musicians grow from their experiences with RO and we're proud to help launch their gifts toward future productions and other cities.
