Rimrock Opera Chorus for Kids
"ROCK" AUDITIONS 2011-2012 Season To schedule an audition, please call Angie
Langeliers (406) 697-3455.
ROCK is a
select choral program founded by the Rimrock Opera
in 2004. Its mission is “to challenge, to teach and
to elevate—through music of the highest quality.”
Singers in grades 1-12 are invited to audition for
participation in a two-semester season with weekly
rehearsals and many opportunities for public
performances.
The group comprises three
choruses and includes students from grades 1-12 from
Billings and surrounding areas.
Dolce Choir: The beginning level is for
children in first through third grade. These
youngest ROCK singers work on unison and two-part
music, while learning music theory and history along
with the basics of good vocal and choral technique.
Cantabile Choir: The largest
ROCK group, Cantabile Choir is a treble choir of
students in grades four through eight. This large
ensemble works on technique, theory, and challenging
two-, three-, and four-part choral music.
Bel Canto Choir: The Bel Canto
Choir represents students in grades nine through
twelve and includes boys with changed voices and
maturing girls' voices, performing three- and
four-part music.
Rimrock Opera Chorus for
Kids, ROCK, was founded by the Rimrock Opera in
September 2004. Open to youth in the Billings area,
ROCK is dedicated to providing quality music
education and a variety of performance
opportunities. Singers are selected by audition and
participate in events throughout the school year.
ROCK has grown dramatically since its inception
in 2004. ROCK participates in community cultural
events with a variety of different arts
organizations. These collaborative efforts are very
successful. Recently ROCK sung at the Billings
Symphony Orchestra and Chorale’s production of
Nutcracker and in a concert with artist Rita
Coolidge at the Alberta Bair Theater.
