Opera kids present their holiday show Saturday

Rimrock Opera Chorus for Kids, under the direction of Amy Logan and Erin Small, presents its holiday concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Skyview High, 1775 High Sierra Blvd. Admission is $5, and $2 for children.

Three separate choruses will present a variety of music at the concert, including some traditional holiday pieces and several in foreign languages. The group comprises three choruses and includes students from grades one-12 from Billings and surrounding areas. Accompanists are Lynette Tedlund and Kendra Hertz.

BSO wields 'Magic and Fantasy' in free kids' concerts

The Billings Symphony is presenting "Magic and Fantasy" in the annual children's concert Saturday at the Alberta Bair Theater.

Miles City teen has long journey to Billings stage

Every Saturday, 18-year-old Christina Pezzarossi makes the trek from Miles City to Billings to sing.

A member of the Rimrock Opera Chorus for Kids, Pezzarossi drives 140 miles each way every week, sometimes with her parents, sometimes alone.

Choral kids to R.O.C.K. Saturday at MSUB

The Rimrock Opera Chorus for Kids, under the direction of Amy Logan, presents its Spring Showcase Concert at the MSU-Billings Petro Theater on Saturday at 7 p.m. More than 80 students in three choirs from grades one through 12 will perform a variety of choral works.

Concert tickets, $3 for adults and $2 for students, are available at the door.

RIMROCK OPERA KIDS’ CAMP

The second annual Rimrock Opera Kids’ Camp is looking for students interested in singing, acting, and building friendships. This five-day camp for kids will run from June 25th-29th.  Camp will be held at Cisel Hall on the MSU-Billings Campus, and run from 9:00am-4:00pm each day.  “Major” campers (entering grades 4 and up) will attend full-day camp, and “Minor” campers (entering grades 1-3) will attend morning camp.   

The curriculum will consist of musical and theater concepts; this includes vocal technique, music elements, movement, stage direction, costuming, and makeup. Students will incorporate these techniques and tools into performances of scenes from the Opera and Broadway genres.  Campers will have solo and small group performance opportunities along with large ensembles.  Student tuition is $150 for Major campers, and $100 for Minor campers.

The 75 members of R.O.C.K. will present a variety of music at the concert, including some traditional holiday pieces and several in foreign languages. 'Nutcracker': Locals blend in with pros

The Eugene Ballet Company made a welcome return Saturday to the Alberta Bair Theater stage for the annual holiday production of "The Nutcracker."

Led by stunning professional dancers, the company featured flashy choreography and spectacular costumes and sets. More than 70 local ballet students shared the stage with lead dancers, blending seamlessly into the big-number scenes and eliciting loud sighs from the audience during their own showcase dances.

Rimrock Opera's performance of "Die Fledermaus" was full of humor and talent on both the stage and in the orchestra pit. The local talent is amazing, and the Chorus for Kids is indicative of what the future holds for the opera stage. "Brava Diva" to all who participated.
