Rimrock Opera Announces Auditions

Rimrock Opera will hold auditions for adults, High School and older, for the chorus of Bizet's opera, Carmen.

  • When:  Sunday, November 9 and Sunday, November 16, 2008

  • Where:  MSUB Band Room-Cisel Hall

  • What to bring:  Come with a copy of your prepared solo selection. The music selection should be memorized, but that is not required. Your selection can be from any genre of music: you do not have to audition with a solo from opera. Rimrock Opera’s staff pianist Sandi Rabas will accompany you at no charge.

  • Who is listening: Doug Nagel, General Director; and Dr. Chris Sheppard, Adult Chorus Master, will adjudicate the auditions.

Facts:

  • Carmen is sung in French with English dialogue
  • The chorus will have intense music rehearsals before staging begins. Chorus music rehearsals are usually twice weekly. Chorus staging rehearsals are usually weekends and one to two nights during the week Staging begins March 7, 2009.

General information:  All Operas are professionally produced and performed at the Alberta Bair Theater in Billings, Montana. Professional sets, costumes, and orchestra are used. To sing in the Adult Chorus you must first have a ‘live’ audition.

Appointments:  Vocalists should call Doug Nagel at 406-671-2214 to schedule an audition appointment, or e-mail your request to: gd@rimrockopera.org
