Backstage at the Opera. The classes will be
presented by Terese Blanding, Rimrock Opera Board

Classes will
discuss Aïda, the opera and the fascinating story
surrounding the opera. Terese Blanding leads the
class through details of Aïda , insights to
theatrical costuming and makeup, listening to CDs,
meeting and hearing the artists, and a sneak preview
at one of the theater dress rehearsals. A new
feature is inaugurated with this series: a post-show
class to share the completed opera experience.
Discover the historical, political, cultural and
intimate details that swirled around the creation of
the "grandest of grand" operas as well as the
opera's ensuing claims to fame.
Invasions,
sieges and wars; sultans, khedives and emperors;
Italian divas, French Egyptologists, and Russian
impresarios---all parts of the real world that were
