Mathew Haney is currently working towards a DMA in Vocal Performance at the University of Kansas where he has performed such roles as Germont in La Traviata and Simone in Gianni Schicchi. Recently he was seen in the ensemble of Carmen, HMS Pinafore, Tosca, La Traviata, and The Pirates of Penzance at the Lyric Opera of Kansas city. Mr. Haney has also performed with regional companies such as, the Civic Opera of Kansas City where he sang the role of Mr. Webb in Our Town, and The New Theatre in The Sound of Music. Most recently he was seen in Madame Butterfly as a Wichita Grand Opera Young artist.
Mr. Haney’s directorial credits include assistant director for The Rake’s Progress, Patience, and Ruddigore with the University of Kansas, assistant director for The Flying Dutchman with Mobile Opera and a Directing Intern for the Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s production of Norma. Mr. Haney will also be directing Suor Angelica for the Lawrence Chamber Opera.
