Dennis Rupp, bass
In his Rimrock Opera debut, Dennis Rupp created the
role of Agent Skuller in the world premiere of Alva
Henderson’s Nosferatu. Also with RO, he sang the
roles of Alcindoro, Benoit in La bohème and Don
Alfonso in Così fan tutte. His Méfistophélès in
Gounod’s Faust received an L.A. Emmy Award for Best
Entertainment Feature. He has performed in the
Shanghai International Arts Festival in China as
Colline in La Bohème. Other roles include Sarastro
in The Magic Flute; Prince Gremin, Don Alfonso;
Leporello, Don Basilio; Hoffmann’s Four Villains,
and Figaro, to name but a few. He has also bowed
with Opera San José, Stockton Opera, Townsend Opera
Players, Pocket Opera, Nova Opera, Pacific Repertory
Opera, Bay Shore Lyric Opera, and Anchorage Opera.
Mr. Rupp sings the title role in “The Night Harry
Stopped Smoking” current touring cast.
Alissa
Rose, soprano
A native of Billings, Ms. Rose spent three years in
Germany, where she sang at the Städtische Bühnen
Osnabrück the Städtische Bühnen Münster and the
Stadttheater Bielefeld, as well as West German
Radio. Ms. Rose has performed in Texas, Ohio,
Montana and New York. Roles include Gretel, the Sand
Man and Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel, Adele in Die
Fledermaus, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Frasquita
in Carmen, Berenice in L’occasione fa il ladro, the
First Genie in Die Zauberflöte, Mrs. Fiorentino in
Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, the shepherd boy in
Tosca, and others. A Regional Finalist in the
Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, she
holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory of
Music, Oberlin College (Biochemistry), the Shepherd
School of Music at Rice University, and the
Hochschule für Musik Detmold, in Germany

Hardin-Simmons University
Dr. William M. Mouat, Assistant Professor of Vocal
Music and Director of Opera has been on the faculty
of Hardin-Simmons University since 2004. Recently,
Dr. Mouat directed, produced and translated the
dialogue for his first full production in Abilene,
Tri-Collegiate Opera’s Die Fledermaus, which was
staged at Abilene’s historic Paramount Theater on
April 28 and 29, 2006. Past productions that Dr.
Mouat has directed include H.M..S. Pinafore, The
Mikado, Cosí fan tutte, La finta giardiniera, The
Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma!, Amahl and the Night
Visitors, Henry Mollicone’s The Face on the Barroom
Floor, and Peter Brook’s La tragédie de Carmen.
Prior academic posts include Ohio University, Lamar
University in Beaumont, Texas, and the University of
Puget Sound, in Tacoma, Washington. Dr. Mouat
completed his terminal degree in Opera Production at
the University of Washington, and he also has a
Master of Music degree with Distinction in Vocal
Performance from the New England Conservatory of
Music. Dr. Mouat has performed in the United States
and Canada, in leading and supporting baritone
roles, with a number of regional opera companies,
most notably the New York City Opera National
Company, Seattle Opera, Opera Columbus, Des Moines
Metro Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Banff Centre for
the Arts, the Brevard Music Center, Boise Opera (now
Opera Idaho), Houston Opera in the Heights and
Tacoma Opera. Dr. Mouat resides in Abilene with his
wife, Stephanie and their three children, Julianna,
Nicole and Gavin.
