Kiel Klaphake

tenor, is thrilled to be returning to RO once again as a featured soloist in this year’s “Summer Pops.” With a resume encompassing a broad spectrum of musical genre, Mr. Klaphake has performed in numerous productions to include: La Bohème, Don Pasquale, I Pagliacci, The Marriage of Figaro, The Merry Widow, Die Fledermaus, The Yeoman of the Guard, The Gondoliers, Kiss Me Kate, Bye, Bye Birdie, Grease, Showboat and West Side Story. In addition, Kiel performed the role of Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny, in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera for two incredible years in Hamburg, Germany. Also active behind the scenes, Kiel has performed as Musical Director, Conductor, as well as Stage Director, and will add a new directing credit this fall with Arizona Broadway Theatre’s upcoming production of Cabaret. A Missoula native, Mr. Klaphake was last seen with RO as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and has performed in each of the past three “Opera Stars” concerts. Holding advanced degrees in vocal performance from the U. of Montana as well as New England Conservatory, Kiel currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona where he proudly serves as Executive Producer and Owner of Arizona Broadway Theatre, and most importantly is the father of two extraordinary young boys.
